Abstract
645,111. Back-to-back firegrates. URE, A. F. July 29, 1948, No. 20228. [Class 126] A back-to-back grate is provided below the oven with a chamber having an opening expending downwards to the ashpit from which heat is transmitted to the oven. A back-toback grate comprises a firegrate back-to-back with an oven d a space i beneath the oven d being continuous with the ashpit and being provided with a sloping or curved base j for the return of ash to the ashpit. Heat is radiated from the ashpit to the base of the oven d and flue gases reach an uptake g either through a flue f at the rear of oven d without passing through the space i beneath the oven d or by way of a flue e above the firegrate. A boiler c is situated at the rear of the firegrate adjacent the flue f. The space i may be replaced by a heat conducting body. Specification 591,175 is referred to.
