[Class 12 (i)] A spinning spindle for textile machinery comprises a roller bearing insert to be housed in a bolster, such insert comprising a body formed as a thin-walled deep-drawn pressing containing a footstep bearing, and a roller race secured in a receiving head, both the roller race and the footstep bearing being secured without welding. A body 14 formed as a thinwalled deep-drawn pressing has an enlarged neck 14a and a dished flange 15 at its upper end, an inwardly turned lower end 16, and lubricant holes 14b. A roller race 20 housed in a cylindrical part 19 of a separate head-piece 18 presses the body flange 15 on to a conical shoulder and is secured in position by the turned over rim 19a. A locking ring 25 has a tongue engaging in a groove 23 in a depending skirt 22 on the head, and is secured in a bolster 10 by a screw 27 projecting into a notch 26 in the ring. A retaining washer 17 swaged over the lower end 16 of the body secures therein a footstep 31 formed with lubricant passages 31a. In alternative constructions the roller bearing insert body may be formed with a plain flange at its upper end, or it may be formed integrally with a roller race receiving head.
