Abstract
547,003. Spinning and twisting machines. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Feb. 7, 1941, No. 1642. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1940. [Class 120 (ii)] The ring of a spinning and twisting machine is formed with a tapered bore sloping outwards and downwards to form the sole bearing face of the shank of the traveller and with an annular groove extending around the ring above the bearing face for applying lubricant thereto; the bearing face preferably makes an angle to the vertical of from 7 to 20 degrees. As shown the annular groove 7 above the outwardly and downwardly sloping bearing face 5 is supplied with lubricant by wicks inserted in holes 8 extending from the groove to between the flanges 9, 10 by which the ring is secured to its holder. The traveller 2 has a central straight portion 3 with a flattened face for engaging the face 5. The ring is preferably chromium-plated.
