Abstract

623,544. Structural frameworks; walls. LE RICOLAIS, R. July 17,1945, No. 18307. Convention date, Feb. 16. [Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] A framework suitable for use in building construction, e.g. to support sheet metal panelling, comprises two networks a, b (Fig. 1) in different planes connected by elements 1 inclined or at right angles to the networks, each of which comprises bars 2, 3 (network a) and 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> (network b) connected by V-shaped jointing members at A (network a) and A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> (network b) which also connect the elements 1. The networks may be of square mesh, as in Fig. 1, in which case the arms of the V-shaped jointing members are at 45 degrees or 90 degrees, according to the number of bars or elements at a junction. The networks may be of hexagonal mesh, in which case the arms of the V-shaped jointing members are at 60 degrees or 120 degrees. A 90 degrees jointing member is indicated in Fig. 9. The jointing members are stiffened by flanges and may be of cast or pressed metal, plastic or cement. Where a framework comprises booms 12, 14 (Fig. 8) and networks 13, 15 in planes at right angles to that containing the booms V-shaped jointing members are used, and in addition a continuous boom 14 is formed of two bars and the inclined bars 13, 15 are held between them (Fig. 9). The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes the use of V-shaped jointing members in building panels and describes an arch constructed of frameworks formed of connected networks. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
