Abstract

619,292. Metal-heating furnaces. BIRLEC, Ltd., and HARRIS, J. Nov. 30, 1946, No. 35546. [Class 51 (ii)] In a pit type heat treatment furnace heated by electric or other elements 2, a spider-type load support 8 is suspended by arms 6 from the lid 5 which also carries a motor driven fan 16 and a co-operating sleeve 17 equipped with stationary blades adapted to produce an eddyless compact discharge stream. The support 8 comprises an annular frame 9 carrying a platform 12 and joined to a hub 10 by radial arms 7 connected by arcuate vanes 11 so shaped with respect to each other and to said frame 9 and hub 10 as to form passages of substantially uniform area for the circulation of the enclosed atmosphere.
