Abstract

821,469. Heat treatment furnaces. WILDBARFIELD ELECTRIC FURNACES Ltd. Feb. 3, 1958 [Feb. 1, 1957], No. 3651/57. Class 51 (2). In a heat-treatment furnace of the type having a work-container arranged within the furnace chamber and adapted to be charged from above, the container 2 rests on the chamber floor and is removably attached to the lid 7 which is supported by a bracket 12 carried by a pintle 14 on an hydraulic ram 13. Pressure is admitted to the ram substantially sufficient to support the weight of the lid and the container without raising the latter from the floor. The furnace 1 has a gas-sealing ring 4 pressing against the container 2 which has a flange 5 engaging a lid flange 6 through a sealing-ring 8. In use the flanges 5 and 6 are clamped together. Liquid introduced through a tube 11 is cracked in the container to produce a suitable atmosphere which is circulated by a fan 9 driven by a motor 10.
