789,498. Gas burners. SUTTON CORPORATION, Inc., O. A. April 18, 1956, No. 11832/56. Class 75(1) A gas burner comprises a centrifugal blower having a disc 17 supported on a hub 16 and supporting a plurality of axially extending vanes 18, a tubular shaft 10 concentrically fixed to the hub, and means, such as a cap 25, forming with the disc 17 a chamber 26 communicating with the tubular shaft 10, the disc 17 having a plurality of passages 27 therethrough each connecting the interior of the chamber with an axially extending outwardly open groove 19 in a plurality of the vanes 18. Gas is supplied by a pipe 15 to a hollow bearing 13 and passes through an opening 12 into the tubular shaft and hence to'the chamber 26. The rotation of the blower forces the gas through the passages 27 into the grooves 19 and forces air outwardly between the vanes to mix with the gas at the open ends of the grooves. An induction cone 22 directs the air into the blower. The .vanes are curved and have sharp trailing edges 20. The passages 27 open into the bases of the grooves 19. The burner output is regulated by regulating the speed of rotation of the blower. Modulating controls may be employed to match the burner output to variable heating demands.
