Abstract
618,355. Endless-belt conveyers. HALL, H. Oct. 25, 1946, No. 31687. [Class 78 (i)] Apparatus for removing material adhering to a conveyer belt comprises a roller spaced from the belt, a scraper strip mounted upon the roller with one of its ends projecting from the roller, a shaft spaced from said roller, connecting means between said roller and shaft, and means urging said shaft to rotate in such a direction so as to maintain the projecting end of the strip in contact with the belt. In the embodiment shown, material is removed from a belt 3 passing round a roller 2 by a scraper strip 4, the main discharge from the conveyer taking place at 5. The strip, of rubber or like material, is secured round a roller 9 by metal strips 12, each of which is secured at one end 13a to the roller and at its other end to a shaft 13. This shaft, together with the roller shaft 10, is mounted in a housing 11 which is made liquid tight and constructed at one side to form a shoot 14 down which the material removed by the scraper strip 4 is directed. The shaft 13 is constantly urged to rotate in an anticlockwise direction so as to maintain the strip 4 in contact with the belt by means of a weight 8 on a cable 7 which is secured to a pulley on the shaft 13. The weight may be replaced by a spring. The scraper strip may be used as a plough to effect the main discharge of material sidewardly from the conveyer belt.
