Abstract
850,690. Conveyer belt cleaning devices. MITCHELL, F. G. Sept. 20, 1957 [Sept. 21, 1956], No. 28982/56. Class 78 (1). In an arrangement for cleaning the load-carrying surface of a belt or articulated plate conveyer, the belt or the like 10 is passed over a terminal roller 11 at which the main mass of material is discharged by a pivoted, spring-pressed scraper 23, after which the belt passes around a snub roller 12 cleaned by a counterweighted scraper 20, then under a rapping idler 13 which vibrates the belt, and finally over pivoted, counterweighted scrapers 14, 15 and a fixed scraper 18. The main body of material falling from the main scraper 23 passes down a shoot 26 on to a receiving conveyer belt 27, while material removed by the scrapers 14, 15, 18 and 20 and by the idler 13 falls into a trough 30 containing a double-chain scraper conveyer which is driven by an electric motor and delivers this material via shoot 36 to the belt 27. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the fixed scraper 18 is omitted, the scraper 20 is positioned at the lowest point of the snub roller 12, and the scraper conveyer is driven from the snub roller 12 by a chain drive.
