Abstract
609,809. Discharge lamps. HANOVIA, Ltd., and BRENCH, G. W. Nov. 3, 1944, No. 21568. [Class 39 (i)] A preferably U-shaped discharge lamp has primary helical electrodes 11, 12 surrounded by adjacent secondary cylindrical electrodes 17, 18; the electrodes are connected through resistances 13, 15, 19, 20, contained within a single cap 21, to the cap contacts 22, 25. The resistances 13, 15 connecting the primary electrodes to the contacts are of the order of 500 ohms, while the resistances 19, 20 which connect each secondary electrode to the opposite contact are of the order of 70,000 ohms. Either the primary or the secondary electrodes, or both, may be coated with activating material. The envelope may be coated internally with fluorescent material.
