[Class 64(i)] In a heat regenerator comprising stacked bricks 1, 2, having smooth walls c and walls b provided with bosses or bulges a parallel to the axis of the passage of the regenerator or inclined with respect to this axis, the bricks being arranged so that smooth walls c alternate in the direction of superposition with bossed walls b, the frequency of the alternation and the number of bosses or bulges on each wall b of the bricks is increased from the hottest to the coldest parts of the passage. Other forms of bricks are described, Figs. 4-7 (not shown). A turbulence recuperator comprising two parallel groups of chambers provided with stackings and separated by thin transverse partitions applied to a lower feeding type of coke oven is described, Figs. 11, 12 (not shown).
