[Class 64 (iii)] In a plate heat exchanger wherein the pairs of packings 1, 2 in adjacent pairs of plates cross one another between apertures 9, 10 in the plates, the grooves receiving the packings are so laterally off-set relatively to each other where the packings cross at the points 8, 11 as to allow the use of packing of the full thickness at these points.
