Abstract
597,173. Tubular electric lamps. SMITH, H. G., and SMITH, Ltd., H. May 12, 1945, No. 11957. [Class 75 (iv)] In a fitting for a tubular electric lamp, the tubular lamp and the auxiliary electrical gear are mounted on a structure 3, Fig. 2, which is detachably secured to a reflector or support 1, Fig. 1, the electrical supply passing through a disconnectable fitting locking together the stationary and the detachable unit so that the two parts may not be separated until the electrical supply has been disconnected. The structure 3 may be fitted in a channel 2 of the reflector 1 by passing a screwed pin through a hole 6 in the end wall 3a and a tapped hole 7 or boss in the end wall of the trough, the structure slidingly engaging over a strap fixed at the end of the reflector. The tubular lamp may be held by brackets 4 at the end of the structure which may be channel-shaped to hold a box 5 for the choke, condenser and starter switch, the box 5 having a socket 8 with pins 8a engaging in sockets of a plug which passes through a hole 11 in the reflector. Alternatively the auxiliary gear may be connected to a socket fitting mounted on the inside of a flange corresponding to the flange 3a at the other end of the structure 3, and the box 5 may pass through an opening in the back of the reflector. Specification 585,320 is referred to.
