Abstract
561,090. Lamp-holders. CURTIS, D. Oct. 29, 1942, No. 15216. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1942. [Class 38 (i)] A fitting for supporting tubular discharge lamps comprises an inverted channel-shaped housing 15, closed below by a removable cover 22 and divided by partitions 16 into a compartment 17 for ballast elements and compartments 18 containing couplings for the connection of lamp-holders (which may be detachable) and the wiring between the lamp-holders and the ballast elements. For detachable lampholders the end walls 15a, side wall or cover 22 of the fitting has a slot 20, 23 to expose socket contacts into which are plugged projecting contacts on each of a pair of lamp-holders. These may be locked in place by screws passing through a flange on the end wall of the channel mernber. Where housings are to be connected end to end, a socket 37, Fig. 9, containing contacts 36 on one housing receives a plug fitted with corresponding contacts on the adjacent housing. The socket on the end housing of the series may be used for connecting a supply line fitted with a plug.
