Abstract

571,042. Electric light fittings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MORRIS, F. H. March 22, 1944, No. 5349. [Classes 75 (ii), 75 (iii) and 75 (iv)] A trough-shaped housing 1 for a fluorescent or other tubular electric lamp or lamps is provided with partitions 2' to form conduits 2 for the electric conductors and is formed at its lower end with ledges 17 or spaced lugs to support reflector sections 19 which are pressed against shoulders 21 at the ends of the housing by springs 20. The reflector sections are formed with finger holes 22 to facilitate their insertion or removal which can be effected without disturbing the lamp or electrical gear. The electric gear such as the choke, condenser &c. is arranged at the ends of the housing and is covered by hinged shields 23 fitted with spring catches 24 to snap over striking plates 26 on the housing. The fitting is detachably supported on spaced tubular members 5 by bridge pieces consisting of straps 9, 10 engaging above and below the edges of an opening 4 extending along the top of the housing. Each bridge piece is formed with an opening 11 of the same size as an enlargement 6 at the bottom of the member 5 and having an entry slot 12 the same size as the main portion of the member 5. A further enlargement 7 of the 'member 5 forms a seating for the bridge piece. Alternatively the fitting may be supported by chains or attached to a ceiling fixture or conduit boxes.
