A fitting for double ended tubular lamps comprises a rigid backbone to which at least three brackets are secured in spaced relation and sets of apertures are aligned in the various brackets through which lamps are introduced to engage lamp holders rigidly attached to the bracket remote from the end through which the lamp is introduced. In the construction shown, three lamps 12, 13, 14 are employed and three brackets 1, 2, 3 are spaced along a rigid tubular rod 4 formed in two parts 5, 6 which interlock within an aperture provided in the intermediate bracket 3. The latter comprises three ring-like members 21 having sleeves 22 for receiving the lamps and shaped to receive reflectors preferably of parabolic trough form. The ends of these reflectors, each of which is approximately thirty inches in length, are clamped between the ring-like members 21 and a central casting 3a of the bracket 3 by means of screws passing through the sleeves 22. The end brackets 1, 2 are of solid construction and are provided with grooves or ribs to support the reflectors. Lamp sockets 16 are rigidly supported by pillars 18 on the end bracket 1 and similar sockets are connected to the other ends of the lamps when the lamps are in position in the housing. A light transmitting cover is attached by screws to flanged rims on the brackets 1, 2, 3 and an upper cover member is supported by the upper edges of the brackets. End covers may be hinged to the end brackets. Ancillary electrical equipment may be attached to the backbone 4. To control the light distribution from the two reflectors positioned on either side of the central vertical plane an auxiliary reflector may be secured in a manner similar to the main reflectors.
