Abstract

588,414. Lawn-mowers. WEBB & CO., Ltd., H. C., and TAYLOR, F. W. Feb. 16, 1945, No. 3978. [Class 6 (ii)] A lawn-mower has plates 4 which carry end bearings 3 for the cutting cylinder 2, the plates being pivotal on the side plates 5, of the main running frame, and being each pivotally connected to a link 7 engaging at its lower end with a pin 6 which may be adjusted vertically. Further, an eccentric 9 on a knob 10 interposed between each link and its suspending pin 11, is angularly adjustable about said pin for fine adjustment of the cutting cylinder, means being provided for retaining the eccentric in its adjusted position. The pin 11 has a reduced threaded end which passes through a vertical stop 12 in the side plate and through a spring 13 into engagement with a nut 14. The spring 13 overhangs the side plate 5 and engages with the serrated rim 18 of the knob 10. Coarse adjustment of the cutters relative to the ledger blade 19 is effected by unscrewing pins 6 and 11 and moving them bodily with the link 7 in their slots 8 and 12 and then retightening the nuts ; for a fine adjustment, only the pin 6 is loosened and the knob 10 moved so that the eccentric 9 can move the link 7 during which the spring 13 clicks over the rim 18. Pin 6 is then tightened, the knob 10 being retained in position by the spring 13. Specification 574,624 is referred to.
