Abstract

582,382. Lawn-mowers. WEBB & CO., Ltd., H. C., and TAYLOR, F. W. Sept. 28, 1944, No. 18624. [Class 6 (ii)] A lawn-mower, of the type in which a roller for for adjusting the cutting height is mounted at the front of the machine, is provided with an auxiliary roller adjustably supported on each side of the machine out of the path of the cutters, provision also being made for the ready removal of the main front roller when the machine is used for cutting long grass. In the form shown, each auxiliary roller 15 is rotatably mounted in a U-shaped bracket 13, the bracket itself being adjustably secured to one of the side plates 14 of the machine by means of a nut 19 and bolt 18 passing through a longitudinal slot 17 in the inner limb of the bracket. This inner limb is also provided with a slot 12 which receives the axle 11 of the main roller 10, the axle being secured in place by a binding nut 20. The main roller may be removed by releasing the nuts 20, the auxiliary rollers being then lowered into use to support the front of the machine.
