Abstract
615,077. Lawn-mowers. STEVENS, A. H. (Atwood Vacuum Machine Co.) Aug. 23, 1946 No. 25192. [Class 6 (ii)] The cutting height of a lawn-mower may be adjusted by spring-loaded latches 37, carried on the main frame, which selectively engage notches 40 in pivoted brackets 31 carrying the ground roller 27. The frame comprises a pair of side plates 17, 18 joined by cross members 20, 21, the cutter reel 24 being rotatably mounted between the side plates. The ledger blade 28 is of arcuate form and is carried by levers 50 pivoted on studs 32 on the side plates. The blade 28 is resiliently urged towards the reel 24 by the action of springs 47 attached to pins 49 on the levers and is adjustable by the rotation of milled heads 65 carried by adjusting screws which bear against the upper ends of the levers 50. The height-adjusting roller 27 is mounted on an axle 29 carried by brackets 31 also pivoted on the bolts 32. Each bracket is provided with notches 40 selectively engaged by the end of a pivoted latch 37 which is urged into engagement with the notch by the spring 47. The latch may be retracted by a lever 51 depressible by hand or foot pressure. The ground roller 27 may be of tubular metal construction and covered with rubber.
