Abstract
703,546. Lawn-mowers. TRACTORS (LONDON), Ltd., and REACH, J. C. July 19, 1951 [Aug. 8, 1950], No. 19741/50. Class 6 (2) A motor driving-attachment for a hand-propelled lawn-mower is carried by a plate of plates horizontally pivoted to the handlebar or handle frame and drives rubber rollers frictionally engaging the ground wheels or roller and kept in engagement by the weight of the motor. In one form, the motor 20 is carried by a base plate 19, Fig. 2, pivotally mounted on the handlebar 16 of a lawn-mower of the type in which the cutter rotor is driven from the ground wheels 10. The motor drives, through chain gearing 21, a shaft 22 carrying rubber friction rollers 23 in driving -engagement with the ground wheels. The drive may be disconnected by means of a hand lever 27 connected to the plate 19 by a link 28. In a mower of the roller type, the motor is supported by side plates 42, 43, Fig. 4, connected by a stretcher bar 44 and a cross bar 49. The cross bar engages slots 50 in links 40 each connected at one end to the handle frame 34 and at the other end, through a slot 37, to a cross bar 38 on the mower frame. The side plates support a shaft 48 driven by chain gearing 55 from the motor and carrying rubber friction rollers 51 engaging the ground roller 31. The drive is disconnected by a lever 58 and rod 59 connected to the side plate 42 which turns on the cross bar 49.
