Abstract
583,604. Bicycle seat pillars. BYRNE, D. Dec. 24, 1944, No. 25863. [Class 136 (iii)] In a resilient seat pillar comprising two or more circular spring loaded telescopic members the outer member 2 is provided with locking means which are adapted for co-operation with' a locking device inserted between the outer member 2 and the seat tube 8 and held in engagement with the outer member when the seat pillar is clamped in the seat tube. In the example shown the telescopic members are hexagonal in cross section. To hold the seat pillar in adjusted position in the seat tube the outer member 2 is provided with transverse serrations 2a adapted for engagement by a similarly serrated part 9a of an I-shaped locking plate 9, which plate is itself held in operative position by the usual bolt 10 that clamps the seat pillar in the seat tube.
