Abstract

1,009,817. Castors. C. A. FORD. Aug. 10, 1964 [Aug. 16, 1963], No. 32509/64. Heading A4U. A castor 11 is fitted to a tube 12 by a device consisting of two wedge members 13, 14 mounted on the castor stem 15 to rest on a washer 16 supported by a nut formation 17 and held theron by a nut 18, the members 13, 14 being held together by a circlip 19 prior to engagement with the tube and the member 13 having a hexagonal recess 24 to receive nut 18 so that when stem 15 is rotated the wedges 13, 14 are caused to move outwardly and grip the tube. In a modification, Fig. 7, the wedges are replaced by two semicylindrical members 31, 32, which are caused to spread by axial pressure of a wedge member 35.
