Abstract
581,516. Pocket igniters. BUGO, R. H. Aug. 18, 1944, No. 15805. [Class 75 (iii)] In a pyrophoric lighter, a cylindrical element with a circumferential abrasive surface reciprocates longitudinally at right angles to the end of a spring-pressed flint, means being provided for retaining the abrasive element in its set position and for limiting its reciprocating movement. When a catch 8 is depressed, the cover 5 opens under the action of a spring 7, and the spring- pressed abrasive element 10 rises and rubs against the end of the flint 16, which is maintained in position by a resilient strip 17 adjustable by an attachment 23. The lighter can be separated into two parts interlocked when in use by projections 20, 21, a reservoir element 2 and a striker element which is provided with a flange 12 to prevent the abrasive element from leaving its tube 9.
