Abstract

508,905. Pencil holders. ICHIMURA, K. May 16, 1938, No. 14536. [Class 146 (iii)] A pencil holder comprises an internal lead-carrying tube 3 adapted to be pressed forwardly by hand and returned by a spring 16, a lead-gripping member 6 slidable relatively to the tube 3 and having resilient grippers 5 projecting through slots 4 in the tube, and a stationary sleeve 7 coacting with the grippers, the latter being released on forward movement of the tube 3 and closed by the sleeve during the initial part of its spring- actuated return movement thereby to hold the lead stationary while the tube completes its return movement. The lead-reservoir 1 is provided at one end with a removable push-cap 2, and at the other end it is connected by a ferrule 18 to the tube 3, the ferrule and tube having a screw-thread engagement. The spring 16 is compressed between the ferrule 18 and a shoulder on the sleeve 7. The lead-reservoir 1 is held in the outer casing 9 of the holder by means of a screw-threaded sleeve 12 which engages a swelling 13 on the reservoir, the sleeve also serving to retain a clip 17 on the casing. A further extension sleeve 14 engages the sleeve 12.
