Abstract
580,447. Gas turbines. SVENSKA TURBINFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROM. April 14, 1944, No. 6933. Convention date, July 10, 1943. [Classes 110 (i) and 110 (iii)] Each rotor of a double-rotation compressor 1, which may ,be of the axial or radial and flow types is driven by a turbine 2 or 3. The compressor blades are preferably of aerofoil profile. The high-pressure turbine 2 drives a compressor rotor only, preferably supplying about one-third of the plant power, while the low-pressure turbine 3 drives the second rotor of the compressor and a generator 9 or other machine. In a modification, the L.P. turbine is divided into two, in parallel. Exhaust gas from 3 passes through a heat exchanger 8 to heat gas from the compressor before it passes to a heater chamber 4, in which oil may be burnt, or indirect heating is used. A second heater, or heat-exchanger 6 is provided in the exhaust line 5 from the turbine'2. For a closed circuit for the working fluid, which may be air, a cooler 10 is added. The compressor rotors may be driven at different speeds.
