[Class 75 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] A channel-section band clip for securing a cover glass to a reflector and for like uses, and of the kind tightened by a toggle-action lever, has the fulcrum of the lever movable against spring pressure in a guide bracket secured to one end of the clip. As shown, the overlapping ends 2, 3 of the clip are drawn together by a lever 8, the pivot pin 7 of which is slidable in slots 5 formed in the sides of a box-like bracket 4 secured to the end 2. The lever is bifurcated to straddle the bracket, its free end 8a providing an operating handle, and intermediate the parts 7, 8a it is pivoted at 8c to one end of a channel-section link 9, the other end of which is pivoted at 9a to a plate 10 secured to the clip end 3. The lever is moved anti-clockwise to tighten the clip, the pivot 8c passing over the dead-centre and the link 9 covering the bracket 4. During this movement of the lever, pin 7 moves to the right against the tension of a spring 11 anchored at one end to the bracket and at the other end to pin 7. A lug 4c may be provided on the bracket to project through an opening 9c in the lever, a hole 4d in the lug receiving a sealing wire or padlock to prevent unauthorized release of the clip. As an alternative, the spring may be arranged to be compressed during the tightening movement of the lever.
