Abstract

1,222,932. Staple opener. ESCO METALLWAREN MARTIN HUHNKEN K.G. 9 July, 1969 [8 Nov., 1968], No. 34543/69. Heading B4W. A paper-staple opener comprises two U- shaped cross-section levers 12 and 16 the arms of the U at the free ends being formed as peaks 12b and 16b respectively, at the free end of lever 12 a tongue 14 is positioned having a curve 14a. The opener is spring biased apart by a spring 24 and has finger grip plates 18 and 20. Lever 16 is narrower than lever 12 and in use the lever 16 co-operates either with lever 12 or the tongue 14 dependent on the size of staple to be opened. In another embodiment tongue 14 has a U-shape and may be formed integral with the lever, Fig. 3 (not shown).
