Abstract

809,474. Wrenches. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Aug. 29, 1957 [Sept. 17, 1956], No. 28321/56. Class 61. In a band wrench one end of a chain or strap 12 is attached to the end of the lever 14 and the other end is pivoted at 16 to a cam link 13 which is enlarged and shaped at one end to bear upon the object around which the strap extends the lever and link being pivotally connected at 15 and the pivot 15 serving as a fulcrum about which movement of the lever in either sense will tighten the strap. The distance between the pivots 15, 16 is greater than the distance of the pivot 15 from the end of the lever. In a modification the lever is cranked as at C. In another modification the link is provided with one or more spaced projections for selective engagement with the lever and/or strap. In the case of a long strap, a hand grip 20 is provided.
