944,900. Artificial hands. OTTO BOCK ORTHOPADISCHE INDUSTRIE KOMM.- GES. May 15, 1962 [July 8, 1961], No. 18747/62. Heading A5R. An artificial hand has its thumb rigidly attached to an angled pivot pin, the angled portions of which are used to cause spreading or closing of the fingers. The fingers c 1 , c 2 , Fig. 2, are mounted on pivot screws m 1 , m 2 and the thumb a is mounted between them, being rigidly secured on a rod b the end portions of which, where it passes through a slot in the base of the fingers, are angled in a forward direction. When the thumb is turned clockwise in Fig. 1, by pulling a toggle link d by means of a cord g, the rod b turns with it and the fingers are spread apart as in Fig. 4.
