625,477. Torque spanners. KEEN, F. L. Dec. 10, 1947, No. 7748. [Class 61(iii)] A torque spanner has a tubular handle 13 with a head 14 housing a cam 16 supported by trunnions in ball recess. An adjustable spring 19 presses a roller 26 against the concave portion 27 of the cam by means of a parallel link mechanism 21, 22. The cam has a lug for attaching a box spanner, &c. When the reaction of the nut, &c. is sufficient the roller rides out of the cam depression and no further tightening occurs until it drops in again after a complete turn, when a fresh tightening impulse is given to the nut.
