Abstract
1299211 Hatch cover fastenings ASSOCIATED CARGO GEAR AB 13 March 1970 [15 March 1969] 12330/70 Heading B7S A device for pressing two hatch cover panels into sealing engagement, as shown, or for securing a single hatch cover on a hatch, comprises a link 5 pivotally connected at 6 to at least one bell crank 3 pivotally mounted on hatch cover panel 1<SP>1</SP>, the link 5 being connected to a threaded rod 7 with a nut 12, which is tightened against a bracket 9 fixed to panel 1<SP>1</SP> to move link 5 to the left, so that arm 3<SP>1</SP> of bell crank 3 bears on lug 2 fixed to panel 1 to press panel 1 on to panel 1<SP>1</SP>, a seal 26 on panel 1 engaging a flange 27 on panel 1<SP>1</SP>. To release the device, nut 12 is slackened, and rod 7 is lifted out of bracket slot 11. A handle is then attached to bell crank projection 13 to swing bell crank 3 anti-clockwise. clear of lug 2, a latch 16 on link 5 having a recess 20 which engages a pin 21 on panel 1<SP>1</SP> to hold the device in its released position. A pivoted, weighted arm 23 drops into step 19 to hold latch 16 in place, arm 23 and latch 16 being released manually.
