Abstract
560,065. Cooling cylinders. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., and BURTON, P. Oct. 28, 1942, Nos. 15102/42 and 4595/43. [Class 7 (ii)] In cooling an aircraft engine by fan blades f<2> in the spinner e<2>, the air is directed in a straight path through the engine cowling by the provision of a fan k rotating in the opposite direction to the airscrew. The fan may be driven from the crank-shaft m by a gear l, idlers o, double pinions n and a gear q. In an engine driving oppositely rotating airscrews, each airscrew hub has a spinner provided with helical fan blades. Specifications 535,729, 543,219, [both in Group XXXIII], and 559,436 are referred to.
