Abstract

542,826. Knitting. WILDMAN MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 20, 1940, No. 17961. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1939. [Class 74 (ii)] Relates to a single unit full fashioned knitting- machines capable of knitting a stocking foot on to the leg without transferring it to another machine. The object of the invention is to set a few heel tab loops in the instep course on to covering points automatically and to return them to the needles after knitting the heel tabs. Fig. 2 shows part of a heel tab with instep loops i and three heel tab loops h set on points 6. After completion of the heel tabs the loops h, i are first restored to the needles, the heel tabs are then turned outwardly and enlarged loops l of the fourth wale of the heel tabs are placed on the needles. The foot is then knitted. Specification 411,517 is referred to.
