Abstract
536,363. Drawing textile fibres. MORTON, C. April 8, 1940, No. 6330. [Class 120 (ii)] In apparatus for drawing textile fibres, the upper back roller has no trunnions and is supported between the lower back roll and a second back roll parallel thereto ; the lower back rollers may be of the same diameter and driven at the same surface speed and the upper back roller may have a reduced central portion which is engaged by the weighting saddle for maintaining the roller in the correct position relative to the other rollers. As shown the upper back roller 15 has leather-covered sections 15a, 15b and rounded ends 32 and a reduced central portion 31 which is engaged by a recess 35 in the saddle 33 which also has a recess 34 engaging the upper front roller 13 and is loaded by an adjustable link 36 engaging a weighted lever 37 pivoted on an adjustable support 38. The roller 15 engages the pair of parallel lower rollers 14, 16 driven at the same surface speed and a carrier roll 17 engages the roller 14 to reduce the reach between the front and back rollers.
