531,803. Bi-polar electrolysers. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Aug. 2, 1939, No. 22458. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1938. [Class 41] To prevent the setting-up of a shunt current in the external electrolyte circulation passages of a bi-polar electrolyser, the branches 2 through which gas-containing electrolyte leaves the cells 1 are provided with slidable, preferably transparent, connecting members 3 insulated from the gas separator 4 into which they discharge in the form of drops. The gas evolved in the chamber 4 passes through a pipe 7 to a scrubber 8 and the electrolyte drains through a pipe 5 into a tank 6 from which it is filtered and fed back to the cells by a pump 9.
