Abstract

362,328. Electrolytic purification of water. PAIN, F. C. H. and ETABLISSEMENTS PHILLIPS & PAIN, 41, Avenue de Friedland, Paris. May 29, 1931, No. 15758. Convention date, June 5, 1930. [Class 41.] Water is purified by passage through the mid-compartment M of a cell separated by diaphragms D<1>, D<2> from the cathode and anode compartments F, G, these in turn being separated by diaphragms D<3>, D<4> from outer compartments containing electrodes of opposite polarity so as to prevent accumulation of ions in the main anode and cathode compartments and re-diffusion to the compartment M. The diaphragms may be of asbestos, ebonite, kieselguhr, earthenware, porcelain, canvas, or leather.
