Abstract

513,940. Loud-speakers. THORNTON, A. A. (Philco Radio & Television Corporation). March 25, 1938, No. 9209. [Class 40 (iv)] The baffle structure, which is preferably separate from the cabinet, comprises horizontally staggered members 6, 7 connected by vertical L-shaped members 8, 9 and a vertical board 10 which supports the loud-speaker unit 11. The volumes of the successive chambers a, b, c, d, e increase in exponential manner and the final chamber e may accommodate a wireless receiving set 13 and batteries 14, 15, 17, the actual volume of the chamber e being increased so that its effective volume is correctly related to that of the chambers d. The batteries 14, 15 may have oblique faces 16 to produce a flared outlet for part of the mouth of the horn structure simulated by the baffle structure. The Specification includes dimensions of a cabinet and of the members of the component baffle structure.
