Abstract

467,279. Loud - speakers. BEALE, R. M. Dec. 31, 1935, No. 36113. Convention date, Jan. 12. [Class 40 (iv)] For a loud-speaker, a baffle for isolating one side of the diaphragm from the other comprises a structure including a double wall with one or more partitions between the elements of the double wall and openings in the partition or partitions and in the elements of the double wall. As shown, the baffle comprises two curved walls 6, 7 forming a space divided into chambers by partitions 8. The central chamber communicates with the exterior by holes 11 in the wall 6 and is connected by gaps 9 in the partitions 8 with the adjoining chambers which are in communication with the space behind the diaphragm by holes 10 in the wall 7. The holes 10, 11 and the openings 9 are arranged to be of equal area and the baffle may have lateral walls or be closed laterally by the sides of a cabinet in which the baffle and loudspeaker unit 14 are fixed. Flanges 12 are attached to the wall 6 for securing the baffle to a board 13 or to a wall of a cabinet for the loud-speaker.
