488,964. Testing engines at reduced pressures. SACHSE, H. May 26, 1937, No. 14666. [Class 7 (ii)] Testing under high-altitude atmospheric conditions is effected by using air which is expanded while performing external work. It may be first compressed and then cooled, before expansion in a turbine driven by the air. The air may also be dried, preferably in two stages, first by a water-cooler or the like and then by silica-gel or other adsorption process. Engine exhaust gases may be used for regenerating the silica-gel. Several adsorption units may be used in succession or alternation.
