Abstract

651,166. Gas turbine plant. SOC. RATEAU, and ANXIONNAZ; R. July 20, 1948, No. 19455. Convention date, July 21, 1947. [Class 110(iii)] A gas turbine plant with a partly closed circuit comprises, in sequence as shown in Fig. 1, a precooler R 0 , a low-pressure compressor, C 1 , an interstage cooler R, a highpressure compressor C 2 , an air heater E, a combustion chamber C 3 , a high-pressure turbine T 1 , a reheating chamber C 5 , a lowpressure turbine T 2 and connections leading the turbine exhaust through the air heater and back to the precooler. In addition, a turbine T 3 is driven by part of the exhaust from turbine T 2 and exhausts to the atmosphere. The turbine T, drives a precompressor C 4 which delivers air through a cooler R 1 into the main working fluid circuit. Useful power may be taken from either of the turbines in the closed circuit. The low-pressure turbine may be in two parts, either in series or in parallel, and may be associated with similar parts arranged for reverse running and driving a ship's propeller through reducing gears.
