Abstract
600,608. Jet propulsion plant. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd., CONSTANT, H., and HAWTHORNE, W. R. April 18, 1944. No. 7196. [Class 110 (iii)] In a gas turbine plant for jet-propulsion of aircraft, the H.P. and L.P. turbines 24, 16 drive the H.P. and L.P. compressors 23, 14 respectively. The L.P. turbine also drives, through a speed-reduction gear 45 a ducted fan rotor 40 from which a part of the delivery is led to the L.P. compressor and the remainder passes through duct 10 to the propulsion jet. Reheating between the turbines may be provided by a second set of combustion chambers 61 and fuel may also be burned, as at 60, 63, in the turbine exhaust and the jet-augmentor duct 10.
