Abstract

336,798. Flamand, M. Hazard-. Oct. 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Liquefying. - Air &c. is compressed to 200 atmospheres by a compressor 1 and cooled by water in a cooler 2. After removal of water and carbon dioxide it is cooled say to -12‹ C. in an interchanger 3 and further cooled e.g. to -50‹ in a refrigerator by ammonia &c. boiling at -50‹. Either before or after passing through this refrigerator, a part of the air &c. is reduced in pressure by a cock 8 and expanded in a motor 9 to atmospheric pressure. The exhaust passes through a liquefier 5, liquefying the unexpanded remaining portion of the gas; the liquid is drawn off by a cock 7; the residual gas returns with the exhaust gas through the liquefier 5 and cooler 3.
