Abstract

451,752. Double fabrics. HARDMAN & SONS, Ltd., T., and FORD, J., Fernhill Mills, Bury. Jan. 1, 1936, No. 2. [Class 142 (iv)] A felt for use in the manufacture of paper, cardboard, &c., comprises two component fabrics woven, stitched or otherwise secured face to face, one fabric being finely woven to present a smooth closely compacted surface for the reception and support of the pulp, while the other is woven with an open texture and from relatively stouter materials to withstand the strains to which it is subjected in use and to facilitate the passage of steam or moisture extracted from the pulp. The face fabric comprises warp threads 6 and weft threads 7 and the back fabric comprises warp threads 8 and weft threads 9, the two being united by an auxiliary binding weft thread 10 or by a binding warp thread, or, if desired, by both warps and wefts.
