[Class 141] [See also Group IX] A fabric binding for the edges of sheet material 2, e.g. a shoe upper, consists of a closely woven galloon having a selvedge 5 along one edge for attachment by sewing to the top face of the sheet material and a fringe 4 at the opposite edge which is adhesively secured to the under face of the sheet material. A linen or other strong thread may be woven in at the selvedge and a number of loose warp threads into the fringe, these loose warp threads being removed before. the binding is applied to the material. The binding is woven double with a weft middle and then divided down the centre.
