Abstract
423,428. Double ply fabrics &c. PFERDMENGES, H., Giesenkirchen, near Rheydt, Germany. May 1, 1933, No. 12672. [Class 142 (iv)] A fabric for open air, sporting, and summer garments, which is non- transparent, but permits the passage of the rays of the sun, comprises an openwork ply of coarse cotton or linen warp and weft threads 3, 4, worn next to the skin, and a second ply of finer warp and weft threads 5, 6 preferably of linen more closely woven, but spaced apart sufficiently to permit the passage of light rays and air. The diameters and spacings of the threads in the two plies are specified. The warp threads 3 may lie wholly between the second ply 5, 6 and the weft threads 4, and be bound to the second ply, fine binding warp threads being used, or the weft threads 4 may be arranged between the second ply and the warp threads 3 or the threads 3, 4 may interweave. Weft threads instead of or in addition to warp threads may bind the plies together.
