Abstract

476,966. Fabrics and yarns containing ramie &c. BERGER, O. June 22, 1936, No. 17337. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iv)] Strips of " Lame plume " made by pulping ramie fibres, alone or mixed with cotton or flax &c., and pressing into strip form are twisted and such individually-twisted strips are woven together to form fabrics used for wall coverings, for upholstering automobiles and railway carriages, for trunks and shoes, handbags, box coverings and for covering steel and wooden furniture. Several of the twisted strips may be twisted or doubled together and such doubled strips be woven into a fabric. The fabric may be woven double with two wefts and one warp, two warps and one weft, or two warps and two wefts. The " LamÚ plume " is moistened during weaving and during the preparatory work. According to the Provisional Specification, the strips may be woven together in their flat form, and a soft material may be used as underweft to produce a carpetlike result,
