Abstract

409,475. Opening preserve tins &c. AKTIEBOLAGET TRANSITORIA, 37, Birgerjarlsgatan, Stockholm. Feb. 4, 1933, No. 3475. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1932. [Class 66.] An opener 5 is attached to a part 4<a> of a wall of a preserve tin &c. limited by a weakening line 4 by means of a rivet 6 the inner end of which is provided with an enlarged head 12 of sufficient size to retain a packing between the head and the inside of the can wall to provide against leakage through the rivet hole and to form a re-inforcement for the wall at the point of attachment. The packing may be of indiarubber &c. and may be disposed in an annular groove or recess formed in the face of the head adjoining the wall of the tin. Opening is effected by turning the opener 5 into the position shown in dotted lines at 5<b> before raising it to rupture the metal at the weakening line and effect removal of the part 4<a>. Specification 399,036 is referred to.
