406,536. Methods of generating steam. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 6, 1933, No. 16293. Convention date, June 4, 1932. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler of the kind in which the combustion gases flow at high velocity through longitudinal flue tubes 2 in water tubes 11 arranged around a combustion chamber, as described in Specification 347,199, the water tubes are so mounted as to be readily exchangeable. The water tubes are supplied with water from the lower header 14 through detachable connections 16 and discharge into the upper header 19 through side openings 7. The flue tubes in each water tube open at their lower end into a single flared discharge nozzle 5 projecting into the outlet flue. In a modification, the water tubes open into the upper header through detachable tubular connectors. In this modification, the water tubes are spaced apart around the combustion chamber, the spaces between them being closed by small diameter steam or water tubes.
