Abstract

384,163. Boiler cleaners. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN, Gothenburg, Sweden. March 30, 1932, No. 9162. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1931. [Class 99 (ii).] The coils 1, 2, 3 .. of a steam superheater are located within the flue gas passage 7 leading from the boiler furnace with the main longitudinal direction of the coils substantially at right-angles to the direction of flow of the flue gases and in rows with free spaces extending preferably without interruptions crosswise through the passage, and they are cleaned by steam pipes 10 which are rotatably mounted in a plate 17 and a stage 18 at the lower and upper ends of the passage respectively and extend through the passage substantially in the direction of flow of the gases. The pipes 10 are provided with openings 13, 14 .. located so that the steam jets issuing therefrom in the sweeping operation will pass through the free tube spaces, and each is preferably adjustable in its longitudinal direction by means of a ring 22 displaceable upon the pipe but normally clamped thereto, the ring 22 being formed integral with the operating handle 19 of the pipe. Steam is supplied to the pipes 10 from one of the main steam pipes 12 by tubes 11.
