Divided out of 447,115. [Class 123 (ii)] Internally heated steam boilers or water heaters have an annular water chamber A with thimbles or loops B projecting into a central passage C extending from one end to the other of the boiler and with thimbles or loops D extending outwards into a gas passage E formed by a surrounding casing F. An external conduit K connects one end of the central passage with the surrounding casing whereby combustion products or waste heat gases are caused to pass through both sections of the boiler in series. The lower end G of the central passage may constitute an oil-fired combustion chamber or an inlet for waste heat gases.
